Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour The base of this recipe provides a light and fluffy texture.
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder This key ingredient ensures the bread rises beautifully.
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt A pinch of salt enhances the flavors.
  • 1 tablespoon sugar Just a hint of sweetness balances the loaf.

Wet Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup milk This adds moisture and richness.
  • 1/4 cup olive oil or melted butter Choose either for added flavor and tenderness.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and grease a baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar until well combined.
  • Pour the milk and olive oil (or melted butter) into the dry mixture. Stir gently until a soft dough forms; be careful not to overmix.
  • Gently place the dough into your prepared pan, smoothing the top as necessary.

Baking

  • Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 12-15 minutes, until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.

Serving

  • Once baked, allow the bread to cool slightly. Slice into warm pieces and serve with butter, jam, or your favorite spread.

Notes

Avoid Overmixing for best texture. Add herbs or cheese for variations.
