Ingredients

Bread Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour The foundation of our bread.
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese The star ingredient that gives this bread its cheesy allure.
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted Adds richness and depth.
  • 1 large egg Binds the ingredients together.
  • 1 cup milk Ensures the bread stays moist and fluffy.
  • 1 tbsp baking powder Helps to give the bread its delightful rise.
  • 1/2 tsp salt Balances the flavors.
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder (optional) Enhances flavor with a hint of garlic.
  • 2 tbsp honey (optional) A touch of sweetness to round out the taste.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Prepare a 9×5-inch loaf pan by greasing it well or lining it with parchment paper for easy removal.
  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and garlic powder (if using). Make sure all dry ingredients are thoroughly combined.
  • Gently fold in the shredded cheddar cheese, ensuring that each piece is coated with the flour mixture for even distribution.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, melted butter, and honey (if using).
  • Carefully pour the wet ingredients into the dry mixture, stirring gently until just combined. Avoid overmixing.
  • Spread the batter evenly into your prepared loaf pan, smoothing the top.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 30–35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
  • Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.

Notes

For an extra cheesy delight, top the batter with additional shredded cheddar before baking. Optional extras include herbs like chives or parsley. To store, wrap tightly and keep at room temperature for up to 3 days, or freeze for up to 3 months.
