  • 1/2 tsp dried parsley A touch of freshness.

For the filling

  • 1 lb thinly sliced ribeye or sirloin steak Tender cut that cooks quickly.
  • 1 small onion, thinly sliced Sweet and caramelizes beautifully.
  • 1 tbsp olive oil For sautéing and adding richness.
  • to taste Salt and pepper To enhance flavors.
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded provolone or mozzarella cheese Melts wonderfully over the steak.

For the sandwich

  • 2 hoagie rolls or sub rolls Soft and slightly chewy for the perfect hold.

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a small bowl, mix the softened butter with minced garlic, grated parmesan cheese, and dried parsley. Spread this flavorful mixture on the insides of the hoagie rolls. Toast them in a skillet or oven until they turn golden and crispy, about 3-4 minutes.

Cooking the filling

  • Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the thinly sliced onions and sauté them until they are soft and caramelized, about 5-7 minutes. Once done, remove them from the skillet and set aside.
  • In the same skillet, increase the heat to high. Add the thinly sliced ribeye or sirloin steak, seasoning it with salt and pepper. Cook until browned and cooked through, mixing in the sautéed onions for about 2 minutes.

Assembly

  • Take your toasted garlic parmesan rolls and load them up with the steak and onion mixture. Top generously with shredded provolone or mozzarella cheese.

Finalizing

  • Place the loaded sandwiches under the broiler for 2-3 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and melted. Serve hot and enjoy the wonderful aroma!

Notes

For an extra flavor boost, consider adding sautéed bell peppers or mushrooms to your steak mixture. If you're short on time, you can use pre-sliced steak from the deli to cut down on prep.
