  • 4 medium potatoes Peeled and diced into ½-inch cubes.
  • 1 small onion Diced finely for sweetness.
  • 1.5 cups shredded cheddar or mozzarella cheese Any option provides a cheesy finish.
  • 1 tsp garlic powder For warmth and aroma.
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika Adds subtle smokiness.
  • 1 tbsp olive oil Healthy fat for cooking.
  • to taste salt & pepper Essential for flavor.
  • for garnish fresh parsley Optional, adds freshness.

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat.
  • Add the diced potatoes and cook for about 10–12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until golden and tender. Remove and set aside.
  • In the same skillet, add ground beef and diced onion. Cook until browned and onion is soft, around 6–8 minutes, draining excess fat.
  • Stir in garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper, mixing well.
  • Return the cooked potatoes to the skillet and stir everything together. Cook for an additional 3–4 minutes.
  • Sprinkle shredded cheese evenly over the top, cover with a lid, and reduce to low heat for 2–3 minutes until cheese melts.
  • Sprinkle with chopped parsley to serve hot.

Notes

Use a cast-iron skillet for even cooking and great heat retention. Feel free to experiment with spices. You can also add vegetables such as bell peppers or spinach for added nutrition.
