  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella or cheddar This melty goodness enhances the patties, bringing a creamy texture.
  • 1 large egg Acts as a binding agent.
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (panko or regular) Adds crunch and body.

Flavor Enhancers

  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, finely chopped Adds brightness and color.
  • 1/4 cup finely diced onion Introduces mild sweetness.
  • 1 clove garlic, minced Provides delightful depth of flavor.
  • 1 tbsp mayonnaise Adds creaminess.
  • 1/2 tsp salt Enhances overall flavor.
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper Adds a subtle kick.
  • 1/2 tsp lemon juice (optional) Brightens the flavors.
  • 2 tbsp olive oil or butter For cooking, adds flavor.

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the drained tuna, shredded cheese, breadcrumbs, egg, parsley, onion, garlic, mayonnaise, salt, pepper, and optional lemon juice. Mix well until a thick, moldable consistency forms.

Shaping

  • Divide the mixture into equal portions and shape into round patties, about 1/2-inch thick. Dampen your hands slightly to prevent sticking.

Cooking

  • Heat olive oil or butter in a skillet over medium heat. Place the patties in the skillet, cooking for 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy.

Serving

  • Remove from heat and let the patties cool slightly before serving. Garnish with extra parsley and serve with your favorite dipping sauce or a squeeze of fresh lemon.

Notes

For added flavor, consider adding spices like paprika, cayenne, or make ahead and store in the fridge. Optionally, freeze uncooked patties and cook from frozen.
