Instructions

Preparation

  • Soften the butter by letting it reach room temperature until it’s soft but not melted.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the softened butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, lemon zest and juice, Dijon mustard, red pepper flakes, smoked paprika, and optional herbs and shallots. Mix thoroughly until fully incorporated.
  • Taste the mixture and adjust flavor with salt and pepper as needed. Tweak lemon juice or red pepper flakes for more citrus or heat.
  • Scoop the butter mixture onto parchment paper or plastic wrap and shape it into a log, rolling tightly and twisting the ends to seal.
  • Place the log in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours to firm up.
  • Once firm, slice the Cowboy Butter into rounds and serve as desired.

Notes

For enhanced flavor, add a pinch of smoked sea salt. Experiment with herbs or a splash of hot sauce for unique twists.
