Ingredients

For the filling

  • 1 cup canned crab meat, drained
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened to a velvety consistency
  • 1 cup shredded cheese cheddar or mozzarella for a cheesy twist
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder enhancing the flavor
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For the jalapeños

  • 10 fresh jalapeños, vibrant and firm sliced lengthwise, seeds removed

For greasing

  • Vegetable oil or butter for greasing the baking sheet

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Slice each jalapeño lengthwise and remove the seeds.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine cream cheese, crab meat, shredded cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Stir until smooth.
  • Stuff each jalapeño half with the crab mixture.
  • Grease a baking sheet with vegetable oil or butter and lay the stuffed jalapeños seam side up.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, until jalapeños are golden and soft.
  • Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For an extra kick, you can add minced jalapeños to the filling or top with breadcrumbs before baking. These can be prepared ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator.
