Preparation

  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the cornmeal, all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
  • In a separate bowl, beat the egg, milk, and melted butter until well combined.
  • Slowly pour the wet ingredients into the dry mixture, stirring gently until a thick batter forms. Add water as needed for consistency.

Cooking

  • Heat a skillet over medium heat and add a thin layer of oil or butter.
