Instructions

Preparation

  • Rinse the fish fillet under cold water to remove any impurities, then gently pat it dry with paper towels.
  • Season both sides of the fillet with salt and black pepper.

Sauce Preparation

  • In a small bowl, combine the soy sauce, fish sauce, lime juice, and sesame oil or olive oil to create a flavorful marinade.

Set Up Steamer

  • Fill a pot with about an inch of water and bring it to a simmer over medium heat. Insert a steamer basket or rack above the water level.

Prepare for Steaming

  • Place the seasoned fish on a heatproof plate that fits inside the steamer.
  • Slide the fresh ginger slices beneath the fillet and drizzle the prepared sauce over the fish.

Steaming

  • Transfer the plate to the steamer, cover the pot with a lid, and steam the fish for 8–10 minutes, or until it flakes easily with a fork.

Finishing Touches

  • Remove the fish from the steamer, garnish with thinly sliced chili and fresh coriander leaves, and serve alongside lime wedges.

Notes

For enhanced flavor, consider marinating the fish for 30 minutes before cooking. Customize by adding sliced mushrooms or bok choy to the steamer. Check cooking time to avoid overcooking.
