Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a small bowl, mix softened butter with minced garlic. Spread generously over each slice of bread and place on a baking sheet. Lightly toast in the oven for about 5 minutes until crisp and golden.

Cooking Mushrooms

  • Heat the remaining butter and olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Add sliced mushrooms along with thyme, salt, and pepper. Sauté for about 5 minutes or until soft and caramelized. Stir in balsamic vinegar if desired.

Assembly

  • Top each slice of toasted bread with a mound of sautéed mushrooms. Sprinkle mozzarella and Gruyère cheese on top.

Final Bake
