Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated sugar Look for fine sugar to dissolve easily.
  • 1/4 cup water Helps prevent crystallization.
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream Adds richness and smoothness.

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a medium saucepan, combine the granulated sugar and water. Stir gently over medium heat until the sugar is completely dissolved.
  • Once dissolved, stop stirring and let the mixture boil until it transforms into a deep amber color, which takes about 5 to 10 minutes. Watch closely to prevent burning.
  • Remove the saucepan from heat and slowly whisk in the heavy cream, expecting bubbling as the hot caramel reacts.
  • Allow the caramel sauce to cool slightly before using. Store any leftovers in a clean jar in the fridge.

Notes

Use a candy thermometer for precision. If you want a salted version, add a pinch of salt after whisking in the cream.
