Ingredients

Base Ingredients

  • 8 oz softened cream cheese or Neufchatel
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/2 cup regular or light sour cream

Crab and Cheese Ingredients

  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese adds sharpness against the crab flavor
  • 12 oz canned lump crab meat (two 6 oz cans)

Seasoning Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp grated white onion a hint of sweetness and depth
  • 2 tbsp finely chopped Italian parsley adds freshness and color
  • 1 tsp all-purpose seasoning salt (like Lawry’s)
  • 1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce adds richness
  • to taste Tabasco sauce for heat
  • to taste freshly ground black pepper for seasoning

Instructions

Oven Method

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a medium-sized mixing bowl, combine cream cheese, sour cream, and mayonnaise. Mix until smooth and creamy.
  • Fold in the crab meat, cheddar cheese, onion, lemon juice, parsley, Worcestershire sauce, seasoning salt, pepper, and Tabasco. Stir until well combined.
  • Spoon the mixture into a small baking dish, spreading it evenly.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes until hot and bubbly on top.
  • Remove from the oven and serve warm.

Slow Cooker Method

  • Place the ingredients directly into a 3-4 quart slow cooker.
  • Stir well to combine.
  • Cover and cook on LOW for 2 hours.
  • Stir again and cook for another 15-20 minutes.
  • Keep on the WARM setting for up to 1 hour, stirring occasionally.

Notes

For best results, use quality crab meat with minimal fillers. Customize heat with more Tabasco or jalapeños, and top with extra cheese before baking for a golden crust.
