Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 3 cups fresh or frozen cranberries These vibrant gems burst with tart flavor and essential nutrients.
  • 3/4 cup pure maple syrup Offering a deep, warm sweetness, this natural sweetener perfectly complements the cranberries.
  • 1/2 cup water Essential for cooking the cranberries and releasing their full flavor.
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract Adds warmth and depth.
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon Enhances aroma and gives a cozy feel.
  • 1 pinch salt Balances the sweetness and tartness.
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter Optional for a richer, creamier texture.

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a medium saucepan, combine cranberries, water, and maple syrup. Bring this mixture to a gentle boil over medium-high heat.
  • Once boiling, reduce the heat to a simmer. Let it cook for about 10-12 minutes until the cranberries pop, and the mixture thickens to a lovely sauce.

Flavor Addition

  • Stir in the vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. Allow it to simmer for another 2-3 minutes to let the flavors meld beautifully.

Blending

  • Carefully transfer the mixture to a blender or use an immersion blender to purée it until silky smooth.

Creaminess Factor (Optional)

  • If using unsalted butter, stir it in while the mixture is still warm for an extra rich, creamy texture.

Cooling and Storing

  • Let the Maple Cranberry Butter cool slightly before transferring it to sterilized jars. It can be stored in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.

Notes

You can customize your flavor with additional spices, adjust sweetness with maple syrup, or create a chunkier spread by blending only half of the mixture.
