Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a skillet, sauté the finely chopped mushrooms, onions, and minced garlic over medium heat for 5–7 minutes until softened.
  • Allow the sautéed mixture to cool slightly.

Mixing and Shaping

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, sautéed vegetables, breadcrumbs, grated Swiss cheese, milk, egg, Worcestershire sauce, dried thyme, salt, and black pepper.
  • Mix gently until just combined without overmixing.
  • Transfer the mixture to a loaf pan, shaping it evenly into a loaf.

Baking

  • Place the loaf pan in the preheated oven and bake for 60–65 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C).

Finishing

  • Remove the meatloaf from the oven and let it rest for about 10 minutes.
  • Garnish with freshly chopped parsley before serving.

Notes

For a richer flavor, mix Swiss cheese with cheddar, and add spices like smoked paprika for an extra kick. Leftovers make excellent sandwiches.
