Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups ricotta cheese, creamy and rich
  • 1 cup granulated sugar, sweet and inviting
  • 3 large eggs, adding structure and richness
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, for that warm, fragrant note
  • 1 tablespoon lemon zest, bursting with brightness
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest, for a radiant citrus flavor
  • 0.5 cups all-purpose flour, creating the perfect texture
  • 0.5 teaspoon baking powder, ensuring a gentle rise
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt, balancing the sweetness
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter (for greasing), ensuring a non-stick surface
  • Powdered sugar (for dusting), adding a touch of elegance

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch pie pan with butter.
  • In a large bowl, beat the ricotta cheese and granulated sugar together until smooth.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  • Stir in the vanilla extract, lemon zest, and orange zest.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • Gently fold the dry ingredients into the ricotta mixture until just combined.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared pie pan, smoothing the top.
  • Bake for 40–45 minutes, until set and lightly golden on top.
  • Allow it to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  • Before serving, dust with powdered sugar.

Notes

Choose fresh, high-quality ricotta for the best taste. Consider adding a pinch of nutmeg or cinnamon for added warmth, or folding in chocolate chips for a twist.
