  • 1 cup beef stock Adds moisture and enhances beef flavor.
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce Star ingredient that brings the dish together.
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar Boosts acidity.
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar Balances the acidity.
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce Intensifies umami flavor.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Sear the brisket on all sides for 2-3 minutes then place it in the slow cooker.
  • In the same skillet, cook sliced onion and minced garlic until softened, about 3-4 minutes.
  • Add beef stock, BBQ sauce, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, and thyme to the skillet and simmer for a few minutes.
  • Pour the sauce over the brisket in the slow cooker and season with salt and pepper.
  • Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours until the brisket is fork-tender.
  • Let the brisket rest for 10 minutes before slicing thinly.
  • Serve with sauce created during cooking for added flavor.

Notes

For added flavor, consider brining the brisket overnight. Experiment with different BBQ sauces and serve with classic side dishes like mashed potatoes or coleslaw.
