Instructions

Preparation

  • In a skillet over medium heat, add the butter and let it melt slowly.
  • Add the thinly sliced shallots, brown sugar, balsamic vinegar, salt, and pepper.
  • Stir gently to combine, and let it cook for about 10 minutes until deep golden brown.
  • Preheat your oven to 200°C (390°F) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.

Assembly

  • Spoon a small pile of caramelized shallots onto the lined tray for each tart.
  • Top each with crumbled feta cheese.
  • Place puff pastry squares over each filling and tuck the edges around to create parcels.
  • Brush the tops with egg wash to achieve a golden finish.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 18-22 minutes until puffy and golden brown.
  • Gently flip each tart onto a plate, revealing caramelized shallots and feta on top.
